So from that point I assumed that it was unnecessary to install that software and that CoreMIDI was taking care of the interface recognition. The ground-up approach resulted in a stable, workable system but this time around, after Logic was installed, the Unitor and AMT were recognized without my having added the emagic drivers. Added each software component one at a time, taking baby steps, and never installed the emagic MIDI drivers. Well, to make a long story short (and for reasons that had nothing to do with installing the driver) my computer was completely unstable and I had to completely re-build my system from the ground up. But here's the tale: when I first got my G5/Logic system, I couldn't get the MIDI interfaces to be recognized unless I installed the emagic drivers as DL'd from the emagic site.
